I’m Amy. I’m a gardener, writer, property manager, and suburban mis-plant, making my version of a suburban utopia in the midst of some urban chaos. I live in an industrial corner of Baltimore City, and spend entirely too much time trying to lure anything other than a Pigeon to my yard. I have groundhogs under my porch and transient Raccoons visiting my attic, and I can’t quite bring myself to kick them out entirely. I’m probably misguided, and most definitely clinging to the memory of the suburbs with both hands. This is where I chronicle my journey from life in the easy lane, to life in an overlooked Baltimore neighborhood, and try to balance all that with a career with the retired wealthy. Read along as I share some of my tips and stories from my journey, from my job in the “green industry” of property management and habitat restoration, to my novice attempts to bond with a cast of neighborhood characters I can never quite figure out.
With each interaction I’m gaining a better perspective, and I’m growing to love life here with all it’s quirky, gun-toting, f-bombing, blunt honesty. I won’t claim to be an expert, because I’m still learning as I go. If you’re reading along, feel free to chime in, and comment about your garden, neighbors, or own personal journey – I’d love to hear from you!
Until then though, happy gardening!
